Turkish lira. There are approximately 2,320,000 lira to one British pound (as at 3 August 2005). The ideal currency is £ sterling cash though some money should be carried in travellers’ cheques for security, however traveller’s cheques are not generally as easily changed as cash in North Cyprus. There are some ATM (cashpoint) machines widely spread the North Cyprus, but these should not berelied upon. Credit cards are accepted in some shops and restaurants but such outlets charge a commission rate of between 2% and 5%.
