Government:

The Turkish Cypriots were not let to stay in government during the civil war between 1963 and 1974. A military coup by Greece in 1974 aiming to invade the island was failed by the a military operation of Turkey who was one of theGuarantor Countries of Cyprus. Partition followed with the exchange of populations in 1975 between the south and north side of the island and then the independence of North Cyprus was subsequently declared in 1983.
